The retailer delivers it, and then you discover the delivery team will not connect it, the old one is still attached, and the instruction manual says, correctly, that connection must be carried out by a competent registered engineer. Why this is not a DIY job

It is worth being plain about the legal position. Work on gas appliances and fittings must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer; that is the law, not a recommendation. Where the point already exists, the job is straightforward: we check the existing point and pipework, fit the correct hose for the appliance (natural gas hoses and LPG hoses are not interchangeable, and hose classes vary by appliance type), connect, tightness test, commission the appliance, fit the stability chain or bracket that stops the cooker tipping when the oven door takes weight, and run every burner to check the flame.

Where there is no bayonet point, or it is in the wrong place for the new kitchen layout, we install or relocate it, running pipework sized correctly for the appliance.
